Even before the first listen, you’ll realise that the third instalment of Gop Tun’s eponymous label comes with a strong statement, an artistic one to be sure. Be it for the chosen source for the delicious material they aim at offering: a group of novices hailing from the East Side of Sao Paulo - an area that has already given us plenty of worldwide recognition now residing in Amsterdam - or for the regal remixer recruited to enhance its flavours: no other than Discosmic royalty Prins Thomas.
Delving into the grooves originally carved by the band we find ourselves amidst some rich rhythmic elements that rely heavily on the hypnotic power of a rather infectious bassline, the kind that yields from some greasy fingering and creates the type of gravy that made Brasilian cuisine famous throughout the world. While the complementary dish is served by your Balearic Highness, who designs one of his traditional mind-bending journeys by turning the original set of flavours into a dense compound of molten polyrhythms and intensified worldly spices.
